Basa ugi is a distinct regional language, spoken, by the bugis. Honor, status, and rank are of great importance to the bugis. Besides, the are very confident of their own abilities. The majority are farmers. Their homelands is the area around lake tempe. Now they earn their living as rice farmers, tradersor fisherman. Women sometimes help with agricultural cycle or weave the silk sarong. Most Bugis live in stilted houses. The Bugis diet are rice, maize, fish, chicken, vegetables fruit ang coffee. Visual and performing art, such as dance and recitations of epic poetry have been replace by modern entertainment.
